Description

The building depicted here was built in 1898-1901 as a replacement for an older structure.  In 2006 the building was renovated and expanded, and in 2008 the clock tower was rebuilt.  The Bing family was a long standing part of the Champaign/Urban business community.  Louis Bing is listed in the 1884 City Directory as a clothier, with a shop at 30 Main.  Simon Bing was listed in the 1940 Census as a jeweler with a business at 37 Main,
